Solo Exhibition at Gallery@LR - 71 Fenchurch Street

www.lr.org/en/who-we-are/heritage/lr-in-london/gallery-at-lr

It has been confirmed that James Mackenzie will be having a solo exhibition within Lloyd's Register's iconic Richard Rogers building at 71 Fenchurch Street. The gallery is in the central 9-storey glazed atrium where the building’s space and light make an immediate impact.

The Richard Rogers building was completed in 2000, breathing new life into the original 1901 Thomas Collcutt building that nestles alongside.

Partitioned by a striking curtain wall clad in blocks of concrete with white limestone, the main tower structure is made from glass, steel and exposed concrete beams. Our exhibition space is located on the ground level of the soaring 11 storey atrium - adding a sense of drama and some fabulous light to our shows.

The space is divided using movable partitions, covered in a soft grey fabric to complement the building's structure. These provide the flexibility we need to accommodate a whole range of contemporary artists' work, as well as bringing the space together at a human level to facilitate an intimate and engaging environment.

The solo exhibition will last for 6 weeks from March 2016.

Ouliana Vlasova - Review

http://www.mackenzieart.co.uk/gallery/Waterfall-20

'James Mackenzie’s "Waterfall" is the most successful in this series of abstract paintings due to its bold yet harmonious nature. The desire of the artist for the fulfilment of a perfect harmony is evident in the interplay between the three elements: his rigorous search for geometric composition, expressive colour balance and complementing textures.'

Show Us Your Art 2012 - Middlesbrough

http://showusyourart.com/

Artwork by James Mackenzie has been selected for the first Show Us Your Art festival to be held in Middlesbrough in September 2012 as part of the wider Discover Middlesbrough campaign.

Middlesbrough town centre is to be transformed into a giant art exhibition and artists from across the area have provided work to help us do it.

For three days in September, the Show Us Your Art movement, in association with mima, Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art, will be filling shops, cafes and even a church with the work of local artists, as well as selected works from mima’s own collection.

The event is being supported by the award winning Middlesbrough Institue of Modern Art (mima) and Middlesbrough Borough Council and this year we recived approaching 300 entries from local artists who wanted to have their work shown.

There will also be a virtual gallery. The town centre will be filled with posters carrying QR codes. Scan it with your mobile ‘phone and each poster will load an image of a different work by a local artist onto your ‘phone.

There will also be poetry, photography, interactive events and other fringe events around the town. More details on these as we get them.
